Tell Me The Story Of Jesus
Prior to this Advent season, I had never heard the hymn “Tell Me the Story of Jesus” by Frances J. Crosby. When I saw the artwork in the sanctuary of Fellowship North that features this piece it immediately resonated with me.
No matter how I grow and mature in the faith, I never outgrow the gospel. The finished work of Jesus Christ is what brought me into the kingdom and it is what sustains me in the kingdom. His love for me overshadows everything else around me.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe. I believe. If you believe, the story of Jesus — the gospel — is our power for living a fruitful life.
Here are the words to the hymn:
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth,
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth.”
Refrain:
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Anthony also recorded the instrumental track for this hymn; you can hear it below.
Today’s story is by Anthony Valley.
“Although I’ve only been at Fellowship North for a few years, this loving band of believers has enriched my life. I’ve experienced the love of Christ and the church by the authenticity of genuine relationships, the freedom of transparency, and the commitment to triumph over tragedy. I met my wife Stacey here and we are the parents of three wonderful girls (and foster parents to another).”
