To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re telling 30 stories of God’s faithfulness in and through Fellowship North. You can read all the stories here.
I was 24 years old when I walked into that YMCA.
I didn’t help start the church, but I came the summer that the doors opened. I’m a product of the mission of Fellowship North: to make disciples of all people.
I was single and had a job teaching. I was dating David, but he was living in Ozark, working as a park ranger. His mother got sick, and one of her oncology nurses was a woman named Carole Grant. She told David’s mom about this new church that was starting in North Little Rock. And David’s mom encouraged me to go.
So – I went. From the very first Sunday, I knew I was home.
The next weekend that David was in town, he came too. It turns out he knew one of the pastors, David Wenger. We’ve been here ever since.
It’s where we learned how to be husband and wife, how to raise our children. We were in groups
where people that were further along than us, spiritually, helped us out. David likes to say that our very first community group prayed him into church.
This church has been our family, our home.

Today’s story is by Diane Heffington.
Diane is on staff at FN as the Fellowship Student Ministries Team Leader, which means she oversees everything that happens with our kids from birth to 5th grade. She’s married to David and they have 5 kids, nearly all grown: Aaron, Amy, twins Austin & Andrew, and Alex. She loves to be a part of small groups where people encourage each other and talk about life issues. She also loves to read, spend time in her garden, and go on adventures. Oh, and she loves her husband a LOT (David wants to make sure everyone knows that last part).
